Outline: Problem Solving and Decision Making
There are multiple ways to make decisions, but one way proven to be very useful is the analytical approach – a methodology for making the problem explicit and rationalizing the different potential solutions. This one day workshop will help you enhance your problem solving and decision making tools. Assessment tools for self-assessment are complimentary upon demand.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Increase your awareness of problem solving steps and problem solving tools.
• Distinguish root causes from symptoms to identify the right solution for the right problem
• Identify types of information to gather and key questions to ask in problem solving
• Identify the importance of defining a problem correctly
• Use basic brainstorming tools to generate ideas for solutions
• Learn about other idea generating tools
• Evaluate potential solutions
• Perform a final analysis to select a solution
• Follow up with solution implementation to celebrate successes and identify improvements
